Scuderia Ferrari has decided to postpone its first major update package for the Spanish Grand Prix next week, but the Italian side still implemented a few interesting updates ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, including changes that were initially planned to be introduced at Imola.
This strategic move has been justified by team principal Frederic Vasseur, who stated that it would have been unreasonable not to make these improvements.
The main change concerns the rear brake ducts. The Maranello team has decided to abandon the complex initial configuration of the year in favor of a more simplified design. Despite the apparent connection to the specific cooling requirements of the Monaco circuit, known to be one of the slowest on the calendar, these modifications have been conceived as part of a broader and general update for the entire 2023 Formula 1 season.
These changes demonstrate Ferrari’s ongoing commitment to improving the performance of their car and adapting it to the challenges presented by each track, thereby enhancing the Maranello team’s competitiveness throughout the championship, also considering the presence of the fourth rear wing in the start of the 2023 F1 championship, the second technical innovation brought by the Italian side for the Monte Carlo weekend.
