Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has admitted that he cannot intervene against Red Bull’s overwhelming dominance this season, but he has also pointed out that the 2023 Formula One championship is not over yet. However, it is difficult to imagine a different scenario for the second half of the season, considering the four one-two finishes scored by the RB19 of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in the first five races.

“This year, we have to tell the truth: Red Bull has done a better job than others. It’s a fact. But I would be imprudent to say that the championship is over,” Stefano Domenicali said at a recent event organized by the Financial Times.
According to the former Scuderia Ferrari boss and current Formula 1 chief executive officer, the remaining nine teams on the grid can only congratulate the Milton Keynes side and admit that they have done a worse job compared to Red Bull of this season. However, Stefano Domenicali is also convinced that the championship is not a closed matter yet.

“We cannot intervene in the teams’ performances,” continues the Italian manager. “I am sure that what we have done in terms of financial regulations will contribute to minimizing the gap on the technical level.” – he believes.
Stefano Domenicali is confident that, over time, the budget cap will level the teams’ performances, leading to a greater balance of power on the track. For now, it is pure science fiction even to contemplate of challenging Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez for victories.
We had the latest clear demonstration at the Miami International Autodrome in Florida, USA. The two-time world champion was not only able to easily win the race starting from the ninth position but also managed to do so with a big gap of 26 seconds ahead of the third-placed Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin).
On the other hand, it was another poor Sunday for Mercedes and Scuderia Ferrari. The teams that, on paper, were supposed to be direct rivals against Red Bull, finished the Miami Grand Prix with gaps of 33 and 42 seconds. The situation should (hopefully) improve at the 4.909-kilometre Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, commonly known as Imola, where both teams will bring significant updates.
