Stefano Domenicali celebrates new world champion Lando Norris and explains the reasons behind a Formula 1 season that remained uncertain until the very last moment.
The 2025 Formula 1 World Championship came to an end with one of the most intense finales of recent years. By securing third place in Abu Dhabi, Lando Norris fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming Formula 1 World Champion for the first time in his career. A result that prompted Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, to share heartfelt and sincere words for the new king of the category. Speaking to F1.com, Domenicali said:
“Congratulations to Lando. He is a great personality for Formula 1. His smile, his way of being a professional… it’s unique and it will bring great energy to the championship and to the new generations.”
An unpredictable season that raised the level of the spectacle
Domenicali underlined just how unpredictable and exciting the 2025 season was, made even more compelling by the fact that the final outcome was decided only at the last race of the year.
“Arriving at the end of the season with the title still open is not something you can take for granted. When we look back, it almost seems impossible how many things happened.”
While praising Norris, Domenicali did not forget the other two main protagonists of the title fight.
“Today I saw two great drivers in Oscar and Max, with different levels of maturity. They both had incredible seasons, and that’s why the championship went down to the very end.”
Domenicali praises the entire McLaren team
The 2025 season also marked a major triumph for McLaren, which managed to secure both the Drivers’ Championship and the Constructors’ Championship. Domenicali wanted to dedicate special words to Team Principal Andrea Stella, his former colleague at Ferrari in 2010, as well as to CEO Zak Brown.
“I told Andrea: enjoy it, you deserve it. Life gives back what you deserve. I remember when they were last three years ago. Zak stayed the course, understood what the team needed, and brought in the right people. Today McLaren is back to the standard it had many years ago.”
