The 2022 Australian Grand Prix at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne threw up some great racing and some fascinating statistics for Scuderia Ferrari. Charles Leclerc won the race after starting from pole position and came away happiest with his numbers, taking his second race win of the 2022 Formula 1 season:
- Charles Leclerc now leads the Formula 1 drivers’ championship by a larger margin than anyone did during any point in the 2021 championship – 34 points.
- No Scuderia Ferrari driver has led the championship by more than the points available for a single race win (25 points) since Fernando Alonso ten years ago (but the Spanish driver was not able to eventually win the F1 title that season).
- Charles Leclerc secured his first grand slam today (win/pole/fastest lap/led every lap), making him only the second Scuderia Ferrari driver in the last 18 years to achieve this. Fernando Alonso was the last to do it in the 2010 Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
- Charles Leclerc has scored four race wins for Ferrari during his Formula 1 career so far (putting him level with Eddie Irvine, Clay Regazzoni and John Surtees) and all of them were achieved after starting from pole position.
- Scuderia Ferrari have won three of the last four events races at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne – Sebastian Vettel did it for them in 2017-18.
- Ferrari has won the Australian Grand Prix for a tenth time
- It was Scuderia Ferrari’s 240th Formula 1 victory
