Facts:
The formidable Eau Rouge/Raidillon corner, arguably the most renowned on the current F1 schedule, boasts an impressive 35-meter elevation change from its lowest to highest point.
In 2019, Ferrari man Charles Leclerc achieved a historic milestone by securing his first Grand Prix victory at the 7.004-kilometre Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Stavelot, a feat not accomplished since Michael Schumacher in 1992.
Throughout his Formula 1 career, former Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has never managed to claim a victory at Spa.
Max Verstappen, born in Belgium to a Belgian mother, made the decision to represent The Netherlands, his father’s home country. Nonetheless, Spa became his de facto “home race” prior to the Dutch Grand Prix’s return to the calendar, attracting thousands of Dutch fans who come out to show their support.
Spanning a length of 7.004km, Spa stands as the longest circuit in the current F1 lineup. Despite this, it possesses one of the smaller spectator capacities among the races on the current calendar, accommodating around 70,000 fans.
Spa is not solely renowned for Formula 1, as it also hosts other highly popular annual events such as the Spa 24 Hours and the 6 Hours of Spa Francorchamps for sportscars.
During the early years of Formula 1, the entry list for races at Spa tended to be shorter compared to other events, primarily due to the track’s daunting and treacherous nature.
