The qualifying session has set the starting grid for the Singapore Grand Prix. Here’s who will start from pole position and where the Ferrari drivers will line up on the grid.
The curtain has come down on qualifying at Marina Bay, which determined the starting order for tomorrow’s race (scheduled for 14:00 Italian time). As the session progressed, track conditions improved lap after lap, prompting almost all drivers to use two sets of fresh soft tyres right from Q1. No one wanted to take any unnecessary risks.
In the first qualifying segment, Pierre Gasly was forced to stop his Alpine at the side of the track due to technical issues. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton showed strong pace, finishing Q1 in first place, while Charles Leclerc crossed the line in eighth. Gabriel Bortoleto, Nico Hülkenberg, George Russell, Lance Stroll, and Yuki Tsunoda are all under investigation for failing to respect yellow flag conditions, meaning the starting grid could still change before the race.
Q2 was delayed for a few minutes to allow marshals to safely recover Gasly’s Alpine. Charles Leclerc faced some difficulties in this phase: after aborting his first flying lap, he made contact with the wall on his second attempt. Andrea Kimi Antonelli also had his lap time deleted — a lap that could have placed him provisionally in second position. Despite the tension, Leclerc managed to scrape through to Q3 in the final seconds of the session.
George Russell set the fastest time and a new track record on his first attempt in Q3, securing pole position for Mercedes and confirming the team’s impressive form on the Singapore streets.
