Speaking at yesterday’s Sky Sport F1 conference, Marc Gené expressed confidence that the new Ferrari SF-24 will be consistently at the top this year.
A collaborator with Sky and also with Scuderia Ferrari, Marc Gené shared Ferrari’s expectations for the imminent 2024 Formula 1 championship. After the pre-season testing session in Sakhir, optimism is emanating from Maranello, especially concerning race pace. Tire management was precisely the main focus of the three days of testing, and the results seem to be as hoped.
Marc Gené is certain, the SF-24 will be consistently on the podium.
“Already from Fiorano, the car was in good shape,” said Marc Gené. “A lot of work has been done on tire degradation because points are earned on Sundays, and there has been a significant improvement in this aspect. Furthermore, the car is much easier to drive.” – the Spaniard pointed out. These are the key points of the winter work at Ferrari. However, comparisons with other teams made during the pre-season testing session are to be taken with a grain of salt, and the actual performances will only be revealed during the F1 race weekend.
Marc Gené is aware of this but still wanted to make his prediction for the 2024 season for the red team. “We confirm that we have taken a step forward, but we’ll see on Friday. However, I think we will always fight for podiums, and perhaps even for victories,” concluded the former Spanish driver.

In short, the work done during the winter break seems to have borne the desired fruits, confirmed in both the Fiorano and Bahrain tests. All that remains is to await the first official sessions of the 2024 Formula 1 campaign to discover whether the leap Marc Gené is talking about has been sufficient to counter the inevitable improvements of the opponents.
