The layout of the new Qiddiya circuit, set to replace the Jeddah Corniche Circuit from 2028 to host the Saudi Arabian GP, has been officially presented. With four more years in Jeddah, Formula 1 is poised to embrace a brand-new circuit. Just recently, the layout of the Qiddiya circuit was officially revealed, designed by Alexander Wurz and Hermann Tilke, known for creating many circuits currently on the calendar. Starting in 2028, this facility will replace the Jeddah Corniche Circuit and become the new venue for the Saudi Arabian GP.
Speculations about a possible change in location had been circulating for some time, but now it’s official, and it’s already possible to take a look at what the final result will be. The facility promises to be a fusion of the characteristics of permanent and street circuits, featuring fast sections interspersed with sectors featuring low-speed corners.
The Qiddiya circuit unveiled to the public
“The Speed Park track will be a true embodiment of the Qiddiya power of play philosophy and will position the city of Qiddiya as the home of Saudi motorsport and one of the world’s premier motorsports venues,” says Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company.
“Visitors and spectators will enjoy one of the most unique racing experiences globally, with a state-of-the-art track that will be ready to host some of the biggest motorsport events in the world.”
Crafted by former Austrian Formula One driver Alex Wurz and renowned German circuit designer Hermann Tilke, this high-speed circuit has been meticulously designed with the expertise of race drivers, for race drivers. It boldly pushes the limits, boasting 21 corners and ingeniously utilizing the dramatic landscape of Qiddiya City to achieve an impressive elevation gain of over 108 meters per lap.
The track will be located approximately 50 km from the capital Riyadh, which already hosts Formula E. The substantial investment will not be limited to constructing a new track but will also include leisure and entertainment areas, including roller coasters and concert venues.
The Speed Park Track offers various configurations, featuring two distinct sections—a street circuit segment and a high-speed open track section—seamlessly woven into the adjacent attractions of Qiddiya. This integration harmoniously brings together entertainment, sports, and culture.
