In Miami, on media day, the Ferrari driver wanted to clarify his future. The 2023 Formula One season will be the fifth championship in Ferrari for the Monegasque driver, who has never hidden his desire to bring the Prancing Horse back to the top of the sport.
“To be honest, these are not discussions I am used to. As far as I am concerned, the steps in my career have always been quite clear. I did the first year with Sauber and then I went to Ferrari”, said Charles Leclerc when asked on Thursday in Miami what his plans are for the future, especially in terms of a possible contract extension with the Maranello team.
“From that moment on, there have never been discussions about my contract because it was clear that I wanted to stay in Ferrari. Obviously, we have reached a point where the contract is about to expire, and it is normal that we are talking about it. But it is not something that distracts me or the team. I believe that the team knows what I want and what my intentions are. That’s all”, concluded the Monegasque, ahead of the race weekend at the Miami International Autodrome in Florida, USA.
