Formula 1 is about to hold successive races at venues that are new to the championship.
Qatar’s Losail International Circuit, a permanent facility just outside of Doha, hosts the sport this weekend before a newly-constructed high-speed street-based track on Jeddah’s Corniche in Saudi Arabia welcomes Formula 1 on December 5.
New circuits are not an alien concept to Formula 1.
Baku joined the Formula 1 calendar five years ago, Paul Ricard in France returned in 2018, while in the pandemic-hit 2020 F1 championship there were little to no reference points when Formula 1 visited Mugello, Italy, and Portimao, Portugal, for the first time, and ended lengthy absences from Istanbul Park, Nurburgring and Imola. Already in 2021 F1 has visited Zandvoort, a venue in the Netherlands last used in a different configuration way back in 1985.
Follow us live later in the afternoon for the latest info, news, updates and results from the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, as the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is about to get underway, with Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc at the wheel of the SF21 ready to challenge its rivals for the best possible result in the next round of the 2021 Formula One season.
