The chequered flag is out at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after the first four hours of running in Day 1 of the pre-season testing session. F1 2020 are over.
It was Valtteri Bottas who set the fastest time overall with a 1:17:3, but it was George Russell who was the first driver on track, briefly going to number one on the timesheets.
Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel was supposed to be on track for the Maranello team today but he has been struck down by illness, leading to Charles Leclerc swapping days with his German teammate. The Monegasque driver completed 64 laps in the morning session, with a personal best of 1:18.289, about one second down on Valtteri Bottas’ best time of the day.
This afternoon will see Daniel Ricciardo, Nicholas Latifi, Lance Stroll, Lewis Hamilton and Antonio Giovinazzi switching with their teammates for the afternoon session, with the other five teams sticking with the same driver.
