Piero Ferrari is among the wealthiest men in Italy, with a staggering fortune, as revealed by Forbes in the annual ranking published by the magazine. Ahead of him are Giovanni Ferrero, the second son of the founder of the eponymous company, and Giorgio Armani, the renowned designer who needs no further introduction. It’s the first time Ferrari has made it onto this particular podium, driven by the growth of the Prancing Horse.
As is customary every year, Forbes unveils the names of Italy’s richest individuals. Dominating in 2023 is Giovanni Ferrero, the second son of Italian industrialist Michele Ferrero. Thanks to the family business, Ferrero enjoys a fortune of $39.1 billion. In the second position, we find Giorgio Armani, the founder of the eponymous company, with a wealth amounting to $12.9 billion.
On the third step of the podium, for the first time since the ranking has been compiled, Piero Ferrari appears. The son of Enzo and Lina Lardi, named universal heir by Drake, possesses a fortune of $7.6 billion. A staggering figure, exceeding $3 billion more than in 2022, thanks to a 61% growth in Ferrari’s stock, of which Piero owns 10%.
On the occasion of the release of Michael Mann’s film about Il Commendatore’s life, Piero Ferrari confessed to the Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera: “I find it hard to take credit for the success of the Prancing Horse. Having provided everyone with my loyal collaboration and having kept in mind the history of Ferrari, the vocation to look ahead, I consider it important.” – he explained.
“Ferrari today is a company worth a lot of money,” Piero Ferrari continues. “Forbes has placed me in the ranking of the richest in Italy, but I have only contributed to a business that has reached significant value. That’s why I want to give credit to Sergio Marchionne, a man with an extra gear compared to anyone else.” – he pointed out.
