This season, Oliver Bearman has made significant progress, evolving from a rookie into a driver widely regarded as having a potential future with Ferrari.
Growing in Formula 1 does not simply mean being fast on track. Oliver Bearman understood that lesson very early in his career. His first full season in the Circus proved to be an intensive learning experience, one that accelerated his development both technically and mentally. Over the past months, speculation has continued to grow around a possible future contract linking Bearman to Ferrari. In an interview with F1.com, the British driver reflected on his maiden full season as a Formula 1 race driver with Haas, before addressing his long-term ambitions and outlook in the sport.
Bearman focuses on his future at Haas, while many see him as a future Ferrari driver
Bearman approaches the future with clarity and realism, fully aware of the steps still required to reach the top level.
“I want the fastest car possible. But my performance does not depend only on that. Now I know what I want. Even in terms of the steering wheel. Before, that was not my responsibility. I have seen real progress. I want to focus on that,” Bearman explained.
In the background, however, there remains a scenario that no one in Maranello is ignoring: a potential Ferrari future. The arrival of Lewis Hamilton in 2025 has filled that seat for now, but it could become available again sooner rather than later, given the disappointing performances of the seven-time world champion. Bearman has grown within the Ferrari Driver Academy, made his debut for the Scuderia under extreme pressure, and delivered a flawless performance. At Maranello, he is well known. The team understands how he works, how he communicates, and how he reacts to mistakes. It is no secret that he is considered a key option for the post-Hamilton era, when experience may give way to a new phase focused on youth and long-term development. Rather than being an end point, 2025 increasingly looks like the beginning of something much bigger for Bearman.
The Haas team principal acknowledges the British driver’s talent
Ayao Komatsu, Haas Team Principal, also spoke to F1.com about Bearman and his potential:
“The talent is not in question. The point is consistency. He accepts criticism. He is open. He is positive. Maybe it is a good thing to reset everything. Others have more experience than me with these cars.”
