Oliver Bearman’s outstanding performance at the Mexican Grand Prix has convinced Ferrari that their future beyond Lewis Hamilton may already be secured in Maranello. Seeing a Haas finish in fourth place is not something that happens every weekend, and that makes Oliver Bearman’s achievement in Mexico even more remarkable. Ferrari fans are now celebrating what many believe to be a glimpse of the team’s post-Hamilton era.
The potential of the young British driver was already clear last season when he made a surprise debut, stepping in for Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Despite having just one free practice session, Oliver Bearman managed to qualify in eleventh position and then impressively finished the race in seventh. That performance was later surpassed at Zandvoort, where he claimed sixth place — his best career result until the Mexican round.
Then came the weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, where Oliver Bearman once again demonstrated his extraordinary talent. Finishing in fourth position, he reaffirmed his credentials as the most likely successor to Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari. Having been nurtured under the wing of the Scuderia, Oliver Bearman continues to enjoy the team’s full confidence for the future. Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur made that clear after the Mexican Grand Prix, enthusiastically praising the young driver’s weekend. “So far he has always delivered excellent performances, and this weekend was truly perfect,” said the Ferrari boss.
Hamilton joins the praise
The compliments didn’t stop there. Among the many drivers congratulating Oliver Bearman was none other than Lewis Hamilton himself. Browsing through the comments on one of Bearman’s recent social media posts, fans could find a message from the seven-time world champion. “You drove incredibly, Ollie. I’m really happy for you,” wrote the number 44 of Ferrari. The Scuderia itself also commented simply: “Incredible race.”
His teammate Esteban Ocon joined the chorus of praise, posting: “Congratulations mate, you were amazing.” Lando Norris, currently leading the world championship standings, added a “100” emoji to celebrate his fellow Briton’s performance.
All these messages of appreciation underline the growing respect Oliver Bearman commands among his fellow drivers and within Ferrari itself. The young Briton seems to have already positioned himself as the driver who could carry the torch for the Scuderia in the near future — the perfect successor to Lewis Hamilton.
