After the most exciting Saturday of the Formula 1 season, today represents a pivotal moment for some teams’ campaigns. One of them is Ferrari, which wants to leave Monaco with a smile after what has happened so far in the championship. Despite starting from second position, Charles Leclerc will try to overtake Norris by taking advantage of the double stop. Strategies this year in Monaco could be the real game changer, as they might outsmart the competition.
The introduction of the C6 compound for the 2025 Formula 1 season aims to ignite the on-track battle with a more aggressive compound and slightly higher degradation. Used on low lateral load circuits, the C6 allowed Lando Norris to break the 1:10 barrier on the Monaco track. However, this compound might not behave as expected in the race, and with the double stop, a vicious cycle could start.
As with every respectable Monaco GP, the position after turn 1 will be crucial and the space from the starting line is very short. This could be a problem for Charles Leclerc, who will nevertheless go all out to be ahead of Norris at Saint Devote. This is also very important for those behind, since turn 1 is a bottleneck and any contact can trigger a chain reaction.
The mandatory double stop for Monaco could create several issues in race management. The first is timing, to avoid coming back onto the track in traffic twice during the same GP.

The double-stop scenario has caused several headaches for drivers and teams. Oscar Piastri commented on this, confirming that the team “is still untangling some of the meetings about it.” A rule that could open opportunities for several teams to attempt the gamble of an early or even delayed double stop. A card that could make everything more unpredictable and with a grid that could change significantly.
Even Pirelli did not want to present ideal windows for the stops, leaving even more room for teams to maneuver.
