Lando Norris finished the session at the top of the timesheets, but the battle for first place could hardly have been closer. The McLaren driver set a benchmark of 1:17.600, edging out Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli by the smallest possible margin of just 0.001 seconds.
There was virtually nothing separating the two drivers, while Norris was unable to improve his time after making a mistake and abandoning his final flying lap.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured third place, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri fourth and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen completing the top five.
