F1 Mexico City GP weather: temperatures and rain forecast for all three days

Ferrari F1 logo, flag, fans, Tifosi

The 2026 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix is expected to take place in largely dry conditions, although a small possibility of rain during Friday practice could provide an early complication for Ferrari and its rivals. The Mexico City weather forecast points to partly cloudy skies throughout the weekend, with temperatures varying between approximately 17°C and 25°C during the three days of track activity.

Mexico City hosts the 19th round of the 2026 Formula 1 season, with Kimi Antonelli potentially able to secure the World Drivers’ Championship. With a significant title opportunity on the horizon, the conditions could become another factor for teams preparing for the next Grand Prix.

2026 F1 Mexican GP weather forecast: Friday brings a slight rain risk

Friday’s opening practice sessions are expected to take place in generally favourable weather. Temperatures should be around 20°C while the cars are on track, with partly cloudy skies forecast for much of the day. However, a few drops of rain remain possible during the afternoon, meaning conditions may not stay completely dry throughout the opening day.

The Mexican Grand Prix will follow the traditional Formula 1 weekend format, with two free practice sessions on Friday. This gives teams their usual opportunity to begin evaluating their cars and preparing for qualifying and the race. The full 2026 Mexico City GP weekend schedule provides the session times and television coverage details.

Saturday qualifying expected to take place in cloudy but warm conditions

Saturday’s forecast suggests a largely similar weather pattern, although temperatures are expected to rise to approximately 25°C during the qualifying session. Some cloud cover could remain over the circuit, but the outlook does not indicate any significant change in conditions.

Ferrari will therefore approach qualifying with warmer temperatures expected than during Friday’s practice running. The Scuderia is also preparing for a distinctive technical challenge in Mexico City, with Fred Vasseur highlighting the cooling and grip difficulties awaiting Ferrari at the circuit.

Sunday Mexican Grand Prix forecast points to a dry race at 17°C

The race itself is expected to take place in dry conditions, providing a relatively favourable weather outlook for the 19th Grand Prix of the championship. Temperatures should be around 17°C while the cars are on track, making Sunday notably cooler than Saturday’s qualifying session.

Clouds could still appear over Mexico City during the day, but the current forecast does not suggest that rain will affect the Grand Prix. Teams can therefore prepare for a predominantly dry race, although the expected temperature difference between qualifying and Sunday remains one of the notable features of the weekend outlook.

For Ferrari, Mexico also follows an encouraging United States Grand Prix in which the team showed improved competitiveness. However, the upcoming event presents another challenge for the SF-26, particularly after Ferrari’s Austin upgrade performance raised new questions about the demands of Mexico City.

With Kimi Antonelli potentially able to secure the 2026 championship, the Mexican Grand Prix promises to be an important weekend. The weather forecast currently points towards largely stable conditions, with Friday’s slight shower risk and Sunday’s lower temperatures standing out as the main differences across the three days.
