The arrival of Lewis Hamilton at Scuderia Ferrari has not gone as planned, marked by disappointing results and new challenges to face in the highly competitive world of Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, recently reflected on his transition from Mercedes to Ferrari, revealing that his experience with the legendary Italian team has been far from what he anticipated.
After twelve extraordinary years of success with Mercedes, including six Drivers’ Championships and eight Constructors’ titles, Hamilton’s decision to leave the Brackley-based team for Maranello surprised not only fans but also the British driver himself. Despite his remarkable achievements with Mercedes, Hamilton sought a fresh challenge and new motivation by joining Ferrari, a team with a rich history and passionate fanbase.
However, the initial months driving for the iconic red team have not met Hamilton’s high expectations. His performance has been inconsistent, with highlights including a podium finish in a sprint race and a victory at the Chinese Grand Prix. Still, he has struggled to reach the podium in main races, with his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc outperforming him in the overall championship standings.
The arrival of Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari: “It’s not what I thought”
In a recent interview, Lewis Hamilton spoke enthusiastically about the resources and intensity he found within the Ferrari organization. “It’s nothing like I expected; everything is more intense in many ways,” the seven-time World Champion admitted. Ferrari, with its legendary heritage and state-of-the-art facilities, impressed him greatly, although on-track results have yet to fully materialize.
What Hamilton found most surprising was the level of intensity within the Scuderia Ferrari team. He described the facilities as “impressive” and highlighted how stimulating it is to work with a team that, while very different from Mercedes, has maintained its long-standing tradition of passion, pride, and commitment to excellence.
Despite the initial difficulties and mixed results, Lewis Hamilton continues to express profound admiration for Ferrari and its people. “It’s incredible to be part of this team,” he added, sharing his excitement about racing for the team that has always represented a dream for him.
Although his results so far have not aligned with his high expectations, Lewis Hamilton is firmly convinced that his journey with Ferrari is only just beginning and that greater successes lie ahead.
