After a disappointing Dutch Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton remains positive and focused on Monza
At the conclusion of the Dutch Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton spoke about the events leading up to his crash and the positive takeaways Ferrari can build on ahead of the Monza weekend.
The race certainly did not unfold as he had hoped. Lewis Hamilton aimed to leave the Dutch GP with a points haul that would boost both his own confidence and Ferrari’s momentum ahead of Monza, where he will strive to achieve the first podium finish that has so far eluded him this season.
However, a mistake in Turn 3, caused by understeer, forced the seven-time world champion to retire from the race prematurely. This outcome was particularly disappointing considering the significant progress the Scuderia had made following a challenging start during FP1.
Hamilton’s words after the race
After the race, Lewis Hamilton approached the media with a noticeably different demeanor compared to recent weeks. “It was going well. I had a solid pace, even compared to Charles ahead of me, and the tyres were in good condition. I lost the rear in Turn 3, and at that point, there was nothing I could do to avoid hitting the wall,” the British driver explained.
“Even though I’m disappointed by what happened, there are several positive aspects to take away from this weekend. The team worked incredibly hard, and I want to apologize to everyone, including the Tifosi. We hoped to bring home some points, but things didn’t go as planned. Mentally, I’m fine, although leaving this weekend empty-handed leaves a bit of a bitter taste,” Lewis Hamilton added at the end of the Dutch Grand Prix.
