Former Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen is a new resident of Como. The former Ferrari world champion has decided to leave Switzerland to be closer to his son Robin’s early steps in karting.
His eldest of three children has already started winning on four wheels, and Kimi is fully committed to nurturing his son’s racing career. The driver has chosen the town in northern Lombardy, a perfect location for reaching many international kart tracks. The Lonato del Garda track, a hub of the karting world, is just 150 km away.
In true Finnish style, however, Kimi Raikkonen has not opted for the glamorous shores of the lake. The Raikkonen family will settle in the inland region of Como. Specifically, they’ve chosen the “Il Torchio” farmhouse. It’s a luxurious estate with an attached park, purchased by the Ratti family.
The residential complex, overlooking the city, will now undergo a major renovation. The work has already begun, but in the meantime, Kimi Raikkonen, his wife Minttu, and their three children, Robin, Rianna, and Grace, have chosen a “temporary” solution.
To closely monitor the renovations, the Finn has also acquired an apartment in the center of Como (Palazzo Parini). His wife has already begun to enjoy the lakeside promenade, and the children have enrolled in a local school. Now, it’s just Kimi who’s missing…
