Rumors continue about a possible departure of Frédéric Vasseur at the end of 2025, but Stefano Domenicali has some advice for the Ferrari team principal.
Stefano Domenicali fully supports Frédéric Vasseur. The Ferrari team principal is under pressure like never before, especially after ongoing rumors of his possible exit.
The SF-25 has fallen short of expectations at the start of the season, and the Scuderia can only hope to fight for second place in the Constructors’ Championship. McLaren remains the absolute dominant force after eleven races, with Oscar Piastri currently leading the Drivers’ Championship.
In his third season as team principal, the Frenchman knows his position could be at risk at any moment. After dismissing the speculation about him, labeling it as “nonsense,” support has now arrived from the CEO of Formula 1.
Fred, listen to Stefano
In an interview with the French newspaper L’Équipe, Stefano Domenicali praised Fred Vasseur’s work and urged him to stay focused: “He’s doing an excellent job and must stay firm in his goals,” he said. Then came the advice: “He needs to unplug from the outside noise and conserve his energy to keep going.”
Ferrari hasn’t achieved its world championship goal since 2008, the last year it won the Constructors’ title. Kimi Raikkonen was the last Ferrari driver to win the Drivers’ title (in 2007).
Last year, the Maranello team came very close to fighting for the championship, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz giving their all in the season’s final race in Abu Dhabi. Inevitably, the Constructors’ title went to McLaren, thanks to Lando Norris’s victory, which secured the result.
This year, the challenge is very demanding and now impossible, with Andrea Stella’s team in the lead and 191 points ahead.
