The 2023 Formula One season has officially concluded, and along with it, all on-track activities. To see the cars back on the track, we’ll have to wait until next year. Here are the dates for the 2024 pre-season winter tests, days when teams will get to know the new F1 cars better ahead of the first race of the season.
Winter tests have always been the perfect opportunity for teams to verify the work done at their headquarters. During the F1 Commission meeting held in July on the occasion of the Belgian Grand Prix, several topics were discussed. The first of these is the period for the winter tests in preparation for the 2024 Formula 1 championship.
As with the 2023 Formula 1 season, the track hosting the collective tests is Bahrain, specifically the Sakhir Circuit. The track, located near the city, features various types of corners, both slow and fast, to test the performance of the new car. The designated dates for the 2024 winter tests are towards the end of February, just in time for the start of the upcoming season.
To see the cars back on the track all together, we’ll have to wait until February 21, the day the green flag drops for the tests. From that day until the 23rd, the cars will hit the asphalt in Sakhir in preparation for the first Grand Prix of the season. In fact, the F1 calendar for the 2024 F1 season schedules the first Grand Prix in Bahrain on March 2, just a week after the conclusion of the tests. However, to see the cars, we won’t have to wait as long, as there will be presentations and various filming days for the shakedown of the new cars.
