F1 | Lewis Hamilton the ‘boomer’: George Russell reveals Lewis’ behavior in the drivers’ WhatsApp group
George Russell recently shared an interesting revelation about Lewis Hamilton’s behavior in the F1 drivers’ WhatsApp group.
Like everyone else these days, Formula 1 drivers have their own WhatsApp group where they discuss a range of topics. The chat includes the entire grid, from multiple world champions like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen to GPDA representatives such as George Russell and Carlos Sainz.

In this context, the British Mercedes driver made a candid revelation about what happens in the group. “To be honest, the group isn’t as active as you might think. Recently, Lewis started sending memes, and that surprised me. That said, we usually use it to talk about what comes up in meetings and aspects that need clarification, like the two pit stops in Monaco. Occasionally something unusual happens, but it’s not one of those groups where people constantly send silly pictures,” said George Russell.
This behavior paints a picture of Lewis Hamilton, who at 44, would probably be considered a ‘boomer’ by today’s younger generation. At the same time, George Russell’s words show that over the past few years, the seven-time world champion has adjusted the way he interacts with other drivers, bringing himself closer to the new generation of racers.
