At last, we can hear the first sound of the Ferrari 2026 engine in action on track. Are there any teething problems with the new power unit? Here’s the VIDEO.
The Maranello team has so far remained silent, revealing very little about the SF-26 and even less about the ignition of the 2026 engine. Finally, however, fans can listen to the new Ferrari power unit in action on track, with a video now circulating online.
Although the official fire-up of the Maranello car has not yet occurred, expected later today, we already get a taste of the sound of the new PU. As previously reported, Ferrari’s engine will run on biofuel, following Shell’s decision, while other manufacturers will opt for synthetic fuels. Each choice has its advantages and disadvantages, but besides the SF-26, four other cars will also use this power unit. Cadillac was the first to take it to track.

The video below lets fans hear the Ferrari engine installed in the American car, driven in turns by Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez at Silverstone. The Cadillac team completed its first filming day today, covering 200 km of the 400 km planned. The new team officially shared the footage on its social media channels, thrilling fans. According to AutoRacer.it, no issues were reported with the Italian power unit, which started without problems. It remains unclear whether the car experienced any minor teething issues, which would be expected at this early stage. As one insider described it, it was “the first lap of something bigger.”

The filming day had very specific objectives, including checking that all components were correctly installed. The team did not comment on potential delays in the work schedule. Fréd Vasseur’s approach appears to focus on keeping media attention to a minimum in order to concentrate fully on the technical work. This approach is appreciated as it shows seriousness and avoids raising expectations, which are always very high for Ferrari. Now, all eyes are on the official Ferrari fire-up and the presentation of the SF-26, scheduled for January 23 at Fiorano. Here is an additional glimpse via a video shared on X.
The successful debut of the Ferrari Power Unit at Silverstone represents a major technical milestone for Maranello and its new customer, Cadillac, as they navigate the complexities of the 2026 regulations. By opting for Shell’s bio-fuel over the synthetic alternatives favored by rivals, Ferrari is betting on a unique chemical path to performance, one that appears reliable following a trouble-free 200km shakedown. As Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas break the ice for the American squad, the focus now shifts back to Italy, where the “silent” approach of Fréd Vasseur will face its ultimate test when the SF-26 is fully revealed to the Tifosi and the world in less than a week.
