Formula 1 is awakening from its winter break, gearing up for the excitement and spectacle of the new season. Barcelona is now ready to host the pre-season testing, with the collective shakedown sessions already underway, featuring seven of the eleven teams on the grid. It’s important to note that each team has five days available for testing, from January 26 to 30, and may select three of those days to run their car on track.
So far, Mercedes, Red Bull, Racing Bulls, Audi, Alpine, Haas, and Cadillac have already completed on-track sessions, while Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin, and Williams have yet to take part. Carlos Sainz’s former team has confirmed it will skip the Spanish tests, while Ferrari, McLaren, and Aston Martin are expected to join in the coming days. In particular, Ferrari is scheduled to take to the track on Tuesday, January 27.
Ferrari can be satisfied with the work carried out so far. The Power Unit has not shown any particular issues, allowing customer teams such as Haas and Cadillac to complete their respective filming days without problems. The initial shakedown of the SF-26 went smoothly, taking place immediately after the car’s presentation. Both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc completed the few laps allocated to them with ease, demonstrating that the car is already functioning as intended.
In the official video released by the Maranello-based team, those first intense moments of the SF-26 on track are captured in full. Fans can see the car moving for the first time, with both drivers gaining crucial early feedback and the team monitoring performance and systems in real conditions. This initial glimpse of the 2026 Ferrari gives an early insight into the car’s design, engineering philosophy, and the preparations underway ahead of the more extensive Barcelona tests.
