With the increasingly persistent rumors about Loic Serra’s arrival at Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur is reportedly urging Toto Wolff to have the Mercedes Performance Director join Maranello before 2025. This is the year when the Spanish technician’s contract with the Brackley-based team is supposed to expire. Additionally, Fred Vasseur has stated that 25 new personnel have been hired in recent months, but they can only be employed in two years’ time.
Fred Vasseur pushes for Loic Serra’s arrival at Ferrari before 2025
“We’ve hired about 25 people, but we’re looking for more,” said the team principal of the Prancing Horse to Gazzetta dello Sport. “However, nobody is working for the Scuderia yet.”
“We’ve signed a prominent name, who should start on January 1, 2025, but we’re trying to avoid that timeline. How can I convince Toto Wolff to release him earlier? I’ll try when we’re on a boat together.”
Despite Fred Vasseur’s arrival last January not being sufficient to significantly turn around the red team’s results this season, the Draveil manager continues to work behind the scenes to shape the future staff at Scuderia Ferrari.
The former Alfa Romeo head has already introduced some significant changes at the top levels of the team. Among these is the departure of Inaki Rueda as chief strategist in favor of Ravin Jain and the return of Diego Ioverno to the pit wall to take over from the departing Laurent Mekies.
Speaking precisely about the departure of the French technician, Fres Vasseur responded: “As it happened with Laurent Mekies, sometimes there are people who leave Ferrari. Situations intersect, and dates can be negotiated.” – the Ferrari team principal concluded.
