Bad news is emerging from Maranello. According to reports, Ferrari will not be able to fully recover in the 2025 Formula 1 season due to deeply rooted technical issues.
What was supposed to be the right season for Ferrari has instead turned into a new nightmare. The Scuderia is once again forced to chase yet another competitor pulling away. And now comes another blow: it seems that the new technical upgrades will never be fully effective because of fundamental structural issues in the SF-25.
Ferrari had ended the 2024 season on a high note, with Charles Leclerc emerging as the highest-scoring driver after the summer break. Not to mention the World Championship battle, which, for the first time in years, the team had managed to bring all the way to the final race.
Because of this strong finish, expectations for 2025 were sky-high, further amplified by the arrival of Lewis Hamilton to the team. However, the SF-25 has so far disappointed, proving to be well below the projections made at the start of the year. The team has been working tirelessly to recover what is possible, introducing substantial upgrade packages between the Austrian Grand Prix and the Belgian Grand Prix.
The core issue with the SF-25, however, lies in the design of the car itself, and according to sources, it is not fully recoverable. Autoracer.it reports that the root of the SF-25’s failure stems from errors in the mechanical conception of the car.
Specifically, the car experiences unexpected forces in unforeseen areas, causing excessive wear on the floor, which has been a major headache for Ferrari this season. While the new rear suspension can help mitigate this problem, it cannot completely resolve it.
As a result, Ferrari will have to contend with these structural flaws throughout the remainder of the 2025 Formula 1 season, hoping that the upcoming upgrades can at least secure second place in the Constructors’ Championship and, possibly, deliver a few race victories.
