In Maranello, Scuderia Ferrari are operating with two working teams: the first is focused on the developments on the current 2021 Ferrari SF21 car while the other is working intensely on the new 2022 project and in particular on the Power Unit called Superfast.
Scuderia Ferrari’s goal is to reduce the gap with Mercedes and Honda and, moreover, the target power level has been raised to over 1000 horsepower.
The new engine will continue to use some solutions which have been proven to work, in particular those relating to the thermal unit. Instead, the supercharging changes with separate elements placed in a lower area, reducing dimensions and center of gravity. The architecture of the combustion chambers will also be new and an innovative fuel system is being studied. All with the aim of making the Superfast the most powerful Power Unit in the Formula 1 Circus.
Before the engine development freeze expected for the period 2022-2024, in Maranello they will focus on a cutting-edge project that should be able to guarantee a fundamental weapon for the return to the top of the top series in the next season.
