Ferrari are ready to officially begin their 2026 Formula 1 season, with the dates for the seat fitting sessions of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton now revealed. While fans are still waiting to see the SF-26 on track for the very first time, Ferrari supporters already have two important dates to mark on their calendar as the countdown to the start of the 2026 F1 season begins.
Before the official presentation of the new car and the subsequent shakedown at the Fiorano circuit, there is in fact another crucial step that traditionally marks the real beginning of a new championship campaign for the Scuderia. This step, often taken for granted from the outside, plays a decisive role in the preparation of both the car and the drivers for the long season ahead.
Two other key dates revealed for Ferrari’s season
The dates in question are those of the seat fitting sessions. It is a moment that may seem routine, but it is absolutely essential for the entire season of the Maranello-based team. In Formula 1, the seat fitting is a fundamental procedure, as the correct positioning of the driver inside the cockpit directly influences both safety and performance.
A seat that is perfectly tailored to the driver’s body significantly reduces the risk of injuries in the event of an accident, while also allowing for better control of the car in all driving conditions. At the same time, it helps to limit physical fatigue during races, which is particularly important given the intensity and length of modern Formula 1 Grands Prix.
Beyond comfort and performance, the seat fitting process also ensures full compliance with FIA regulations, as well as the correct integration of the driver with all safety, control, and driving systems installed in the car. Every detail must be carefully checked and approved, making this phase a key milestone in the development of a new Formula 1 car.
For this reason, both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will arrive in Maranello earlier than usual. According to reports from funoanalisitecnica, the Monegasque driver is expected to be at the factory on January 17, while his new teammate will follow one day later, on January 18.
In the meantime, Ferrari’s two drivers will continue their work on the new car, focusing on preparation and adaptation ahead of the highly anticipated debut tests in Barcelona and Sakhir. It is there that the first real answers about Ferrari’s 2026 project will finally emerge, offering an initial glimpse into what the new season could hold for the Scuderia and its fans.
These early January milestones are just the beginning of a long journey toward the first lights out of the season. For the Tifosi, every day brings us closer to seeing if the technical innovations of the SF-26 can return the Prancing Horse to the very top of the podium. Stay tuned as we continue to bring you the latest updates from the factory and the paddock.
