Ferrari has completed two days of testing organised by Pirelli at Fiorano with a view to 2026: here’s how it went.
One week ahead of the Red Bull Ring weekend, Ferrari took to the Fiorano track for a two-day Pirelli test focused on preparations for the 2026 season. The goal was to gather data on wet-weather tyres that will be used next year, when the new technical regulations will come into effect.
Report from the two-day Fiorano test
Zhou Guanyu and Charles Leclerc took turns behind the wheel of the Ferrari. The Chinese driver, who is serving as Ferrari’s reserve this year, drove a modified SF-25 adapted to fit the 2026 tyre dimensions. The former Sauber driver completed 159 laps, recording a best time of 59.820 in dry conditions and 1:07.400 on intermediate tyres.
As for Charles Leclerc, the Monegasque completed 110 laps, setting a best time of 59.210 on slicks and 1:06.180 on intermediates. Altogether, the two Ferrari drivers completed nearly 270 laps over the course of these test sessions with Pirelli.
“I want to thank Ferrari for their hospitality and for the technical support they provided. These were two very useful days to continue the development programme in view of next year. We will now analyse the data collected and finalise the solutions that will be seen on track in 2026. Developing wet tyres is never easy because it’s difficult to replicate real-world conditions both in terms of the track and the car. I believe the results achieved were positive and will allow us to supply the teams with better tyres in terms of performance and operating window,” said Mario Isola at the end of the test.
The next round of testing will take place at Silverstone in the days following the British Grand Prix weekend. For Pirelli, it will be an opportunity to compare the data gathered at Fiorano in order to determine the best path forward for the future.
