It was a very productive day for Carlos Sainz who covered over 300km on the Fiorano track with the Ferrari SF71H, as the Spaniard jumped at the opportunity to carry out a day of testing on the home track of the Cavallino.
Carlos Sainz has worked hard to acquire the perfect knowledge of the systems and procedures that make it difficult to fully exploit a modern Formula 1 car. This preparation session for the Portuguese GP scheduled in Portimao in two Sundays was particularly useful for the Spanish driver who alternated between runs with a fast lap and a very slow cool down with rather long stops in the garage.
Carlos covered over the distance of a Grand Prix without problems and used Pirelli tires characterized by different colored bands (white, yellow and black). These tests must be carried out with demo tires which are different from those intended for Formula 1 weekends and are provided for the Ferrari F1 Clienti sessions.
Two FDA drivers will be on track tomorrow with the same car: we are referring to Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott who will take turns at the wheel of the car. It is curious to note that Antonio Giovinazzi has not yet entered the rotation of the Cavallino drivers on the SF71H, who is to all intents and purposes a driver for the Maranello team.
