F1 | Ferrari working on 2026: first new figures arrive
Ferrari is already turning its focus to the next F1 season, and Maranello is starting to see reinforcements in specific areas of the team. Here’s a closer look at the new arrivals.
Over the past months, following the latest rounds of the F1 World Championship, Ferrari has been under intense media scrutiny. Beyond on-track results and performances that fell short of expectations, attention has been particularly focused on internal team dynamics. According to reports first from Corriere dello Sport and later Corriere della Sera, the atmosphere in Maranello is reportedly tense. Among the names highlighted is Matteo Togninalli, head of track operations coordination, who is said to have had a discussion with Team Principal Fred Vasseur.
Results have been slow to materialize, and updates introduced during the season have not delivered the expected improvements. Like most other F1 teams, Ferrari is already looking ahead to 2026. Next year will see the introduction of a new technical regulation, which could completely reshuffle the competitive order. The Scuderia is preparing for the upcoming season by reinforcing certain areas of the team.
New faces at Maranello
Many engineers have left or will leave Maranello over recent seasons. Among them is Enrico Cardile, who announced in July 2024 his departure from Ferrari to join Aston Martin. Wolf Zimmermann, the engine lead, and his deputy Lars Schmidt appear set to reunite with Mattia Binotto at Audi, although this has not been officially confirmed.
In recent interviews, Fred Vasseur hinted that Ferrari is experiencing a natural turnover of engineers. The first new face to join the Maranello team is Simone Sacco, a recent graduate from the University of Calabria. Simone Sacco’s role will be as a specialist in chassis and transmission design. This marks his first experience with a Formula 1 team, representing a promising addition to Ferrari’s engineering talent pool.
