In recent months there has been a lot of talk about the sponsorship deals relating to the Scuderia Ferrari team with a view to the 2022 Formula 1 season. Philip Morris, in fact, title sponsor of the last seasons for the Prancing Horse will not renew the current agreement, and Mattia Binotto, head of the Italian team, explained that with the tobacco brand negotiations are continuing for its presence in a different form.
The return of the Santander bank among the partners of the Maranello team did not go unnoticed after it was announced on 21 December as a ‘premium sponsor’: Santander will therefore make its return to the team’s livery after the previous partnership between the two brands from 2010 to 2017. Finally, the link with Velas, a Swiss company active in the world of blockchains and NFTs, was formalized.
The association with the Spanish company Santander made Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport hypothesize the possibility of a “red and white livery”, with a greater presence of white than in recent seasons. In fact, in 2021 there was the writing ‘Mission Winnow’ in black on a red background on the rear wing, and the logo on a green background that recalled the ‘green’ intent of PMI. And even in the previous two years, the white notes were reduced to a minimum: to find a red tending to ‘white and red’ you have to go back to 2018 season when the cars then driven by Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen proposed a ‘fin’ with the Italian flag on a white background.
