The second free practice session of the Dutch Grand Prix is underway. Follow our live coverage of FP2 as the teams return to the Zandvoort circuit for the first event after the summer break. McLaren remains the favorite, especially on such a complex and technical track, while Ferrari aims to make the most of its new rear suspension, which caused headaches in Budapest. Stay tuned as we track the evolution of FP2 at the Dutch GP in our live updates.
F1 returns after a summer break
After a three-week hiatus, including two weeks with factory closures, Formula 1 is back on track for the second half of the 2025 season. The championship so far has been dominated by McLaren, whose MCL39 adapts perfectly to the different track conditions. The car’s operating window is extremely broad, making it effective in both slow and fast corners. Thanks to its efficiency, it can generate high downforce without sacrificing top speed—a crucial advantage on Zandvoort’s short, twisty layout.
Ferrari faces new challenges
Ferrari, which pinned high hopes on its new rear suspension, has encountered more issues than expected. The “chassis problem” theory quickly fell apart after Ferrari’s official communications. Post-race inspections and factory checks revealed no irregularities. However, our analysis—based on telemetry data—suggests the issue was linked to the new rear suspension. Perhaps an overly aggressive setup forced Charles Leclerc and the Ferrari team to progressively adapt. Despite these challenges, Charles Leclerc had impressively secured pole position on Saturday, demonstrating a perfect reading of the track conditions.
