Charles Leclerc and Lady Gaga are among the stars featured in a special Pokémon commercial aired during the American Super Bowl. The advertisement, titled “Which is your favorite?”, brings together personalities from sports, music, and entertainment for a unique celebration of the iconic franchise.
This year, The Pokémon Company marks its 30th anniversary, and to commemorate the milestone, it released a high-profile commercial during the Super Bowl. Purchasing a commercial slot during this event comes with a hefty price tag, but it offers companies massive visibility and access to a global audience.
The one-minute commercial features Lady Gaga, comedian and host Trevor Noah, Charles Leclerc, singer Jisoo, actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, footballer Lamine Yamal, and rapper Young Miko, each sharing their favorite Pokémon and explaining why they chose them.
Lady Gaga reveals her favorite is Jigglypuff, even performing a brief duet in the ad. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc picks Arcanine, citing its loyalty and speed as reasons for his choice. Trevor Noah favors Psyduck, Jisoo chooses Eevee, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan adores Luxray, Lamine Yamal goes with Zygarde, and Young Miko selects Gengar.
Interestingly, the Japanese company behind Pokémon, which launched the franchise in 1996, did not include Pikachu—the most iconic Pokémon—in the commercial. The ad ends by inviting viewers to answer the question: “Which is your favorite?”
The Pokémon commercial was just one of many aired during the Super Bowl event. Formula 1 fans were also treated to Cadillac’s reveal of the official livery for their F1 cars, with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez set to race in the new designs for the upcoming season.
As the worlds of gaming, music, and elite motorsport continue to collide, Charles Leclerc’s appearance in such a prestigious commercial slot highlights his growing status as a global pop-culture icon beyond the cockpit. This collaboration not only celebrates a milestone for Pokémon but also showcases the ever-expanding reach of Formula 1 drivers in the American market. Whether on the track or on the silver screen, the Monegasque driver continues to prove that his appeal is as fast-moving as his Arcanine.
