All sorts of unexpected events occurred during the 2025 Formula 1 British Grand Prix held at the Silverstone Circuit, including a bizarre incident involving a YouTuber who was arrested for allegedly “damaging” a Formula 1 car on display.
The strange episode involving the influencer happened over the same weekend in which British driver Lando Norris celebrated a memorable home victory in front of thousands of passionate fans. While the rain significantly shuffled the race order—leading to, among other surprises, the first podium finish for German driver Nico Hülkenberg with the Haas F1 Team—the chaos was not limited to the track. Confusion and controversy also erupted in the fan-zone area.
On Friday, July 4th, three young men were stopped by authorities after they were caught sitting inside a Racing Point Formula 1 car that was part of an exhibition display at the venue. The vehicle was a retired show car, not part of the active grid, but it was nonetheless protected as a valuable piece of Formula 1 history.
Rain, drama, and on-track twists made for an unforgettable weekend in Great Britain for the Formula 1 paddock. It was a Grand Prix that, on paper, looked like an opportunity for rivals to catch up to the McLaren team, yet the Papaya-liveried cars secured a commanding one-two finish. Despite the dominant result, the race was anything but predictable and even offered fans a long-awaited and nearly unexpected “first time” on the podium for Nico Hülkenberg.
Amid all this, the bizarre incident involving the influencers attracted attention. Morgan Burtwistle, better known on social media as “AngryGinge,” was arrested on Friday along with two of his friends, known online as “Chazza” and “SamHam.” All three are content creators and social media personalities popular in the United Kingdom. According to the report published by TalkSPORT.com, the arrest took place after the trio allegedly caused damage to the Racing Point display vehicle.

The Statement from Northamptonshire Police
“On Friday, July 4th, Northamptonshire Police received a report that a vintage Formula 1 vehicle, which was on display at Silverstone Circuit during the British Grand Prix weekend, had sustained damage estimated to be worth several thousand pounds. The damage was reportedly caused by an individual climbing onto the display platform and attempting to enter the car,” stated the official police communication.
“Officers conducted initial investigations and successfully identified a number of suspects. Three men, aged 23, 25, and 27 respectively, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage to a motor vehicle and taken into custody. Following a more detailed investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident, all three individuals were subsequently released without further action.”
Morgan Burtwistle’s Side of the Story
The influencer did not wait long to publicly respond. In a video uploaded to his official TikTok channel, Morgan Burtwistle shared his version of the events: “We got caught for sitting inside a car. Apparently, that’s something you just can’t do in Formula 1! SamHam was literally arrested just for watching someone sit in the car. They tried to turn the situation into something criminal, like it was vandalism. They were even saying the damage cost thirty thousand pounds.”
“When security showed up, I tried to throw Chazza under the bus,” he added with a sarcastic tone. “They acted like we’d attacked someone or done something dangerous… but all that happened was someone sitting in a car! We were taken to the police station and asked if we wanted a lawyer, but we hadn’t done anything wrong. I ended up spending fifteen hours in a concrete cell, only to be told afterwards that I was free to go and there would be no charges. No further questions, nothing. That was the end of it.”
The Video of the Alleged Damage to the Racing Point Car
The entire incident, which was being live-streamed by the group on social media, was later shared across various platforms. In the footage, the influencer known as “Chazza” is seen attempting to get inside the Racing Point Formula 1 car while no security personnel are present. A metallic sound can be heard shortly after, suggesting that a part of the vehicle might have been damaged. One of the three individuals can then be heard saying, “I think the suspension on that car just gave out.”
The video quickly went viral, sparking debates online about fan behavior, safety around display vehicles, and the boundaries between content creation and respect for valuable motorsport heritage.
