The drivers of the paddock are preparing for the fourth race of the season. The start of the 2025 Bahrain GP is scheduled for 17:00 (Central European Summer Time), just as the sun begins to set in Manama. Live coverage on this web page will start at 16:40 in the video below and will follow the final team preparations before the lights go out.
At the start of the Grand Prix, Bahrain’s meteorological authorities expect temperatures around 27°C, with partly cloudy skies that will not bring any rain. Winds could be strong: during the day on Sunday, gusts may reach up to 17 knots (30 km/h) and could occasionally stir up sand “storms.” At race time, lighter winds are expected, around 10 to 12 knots, coming from the northwest (a headwind from the left into Turn 1).
Starting Grid: two penalties favor Ferrari in Bahrain
The checkered flag of Q3 awarded pole position to McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. The young Australian will start at the front, but next to him will not be George Russell, as initially determined by qualifying results. The FIA has handed a penalty to both Mercedes drivers, Russell and Antonelli. The two Brackley talents had qualified P2 and P4 respectively, but a rules violation costs them each one position on the grid.
George Russell drops from P2 to P3, handing the front row to Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. The same goes for Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The Italian rookie, who delivered an excellent qualifying, will have to give up his P4 spot to Alpine’s strong-performing Pierre Gasly.
