2026 Austrian Grand Prix live
Good afternoon, and welcome to our live coverage of the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix from the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
The race, the highlight of the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM local time and should conclude approximately an hour and a half later, around 4:30 PM, provided there are no red flags, Safety Car periods or other interruptions.
Starting from pole position is George Russell, who produced a superb qualifying performance in a dramatic and controversial Q3 session. The Mercedes driver secured a surprise pole despite having to deal with yellow flags during his final flying lap.
The biggest story heading into Sunday’s race, however, is Ferrari’s remarkable turnaround. After a difficult Friday, the Scuderia has firmly rejoined the fight, with Charles Leclerc lining up second and Lewis Hamilton third on the grid, ahead of the second Mercedes of Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
The grid positions promise not only an exciting battle for victory but also an intriguing strategic contest between Ferrari and Mercedes throughout the 71-lap race.
Max Verstappen also cannot be ruled out. Before his qualifying crash, the Red Bull driver appeared capable of challenging for pole position and will start from fifth on the grid, while both McLaren drivers look set to begin the race on the defensive.
Will the competitive order established in qualifying hold up over race distance, or are there more surprises waiting at the Red Bull Ring? Join us throughout the afternoon as we bring you live updates, analysis and all the key moments from the race that will decide the eighth round of the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship.
