F1 Austrian GP FP1 live
Good afternoon and welcome, everyone, to our live coverage of the opening practice session for the 2026 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix weekend. FP1 gets underway at 1:30 PM local time and will run for one hour, concluding at 2:30 PM.
This promises to be a crucial session, with several teams bringing important technical upgrades to Spielberg. Maximising track time will be essential as engineers and drivers work to evaluate and optimise their latest development packages ahead of the rest of the weekend.
That will be one of Friday’s biggest talking points, with Ferrari hoping to build on the encouraging progress shown two weekends ago in Barcelona. The Scuderia will be aiming to move closer to Mercedes and challenge for the top positions, while hometown team Red Bull and reigning world champions McLaren know they cannot afford to lose any more ground in the championship battle.
Attention will also be firmly focused on championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who is eager to bounce back after the disappointment of his retirement in the previous Grand Prix. The young Italian will be hoping to put Mercedes’ recent reliability concerns behind him and regain momentum in his title campaign.
Who will set the early pace at the Red Bull Ring? Stay with us throughout the session for live updates, analysis and all the key moments from Friday’s FP1 at the 2026 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix.
