2026 Austrian GP FP2 live
Good afternoon and welcome, dear ScuderiaFans.com readers. We are live to bring you full coverage of the second free practice session of the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix weekend. FP2 gets underway at 5:00 PM and will run for one hour, concluding at 6:00 PM.
After an initial taste of the action during FP1, the teams will now begin to get serious. As usual, the session will focus on qualifying simulations as well as the all-important long-run programmes with heavy fuel loads, which should provide much clearer indications of the competitive order heading into the remainder of the weekend.
Earlier today, Andrea Kimi Antonelli topped the opening practice session, narrowly beating Mercedes teammate George Russell by just a few hundredths of a second, while Oscar Piastri finished third for McLaren, a little over one tenth off the pace.
Ferrari, meanwhile, endured a more difficult start to the Spielberg weekend. Lewis Hamilton finished only fifth, more than six tenths behind Antonelli, highlighting that both the setup and the team’s latest upgrades still require further optimization. Charles Leclerc will also return to the cockpit for this session after handing his SF-26 over to young Dino Beganovic during FP1. The Swedish driver impressed by finishing ninth.
