Lando Norris battled treacherous mixed weather conditions to secure victory in a dramatic season-opening Australian Grand Prix, kicking off the 2025 Formula 1 campaign in style. The McLaren driver held his nerve through relentless rain showers and ever-changing track conditions, fending off intense pressure in the closing laps.
His teammate, Oscar Piastri, was on course to secure a McLaren one-two at his home race but saw his hopes evaporate after a costly spin during a late downpour. That opened the door for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who capitalized on the opportunity to snatch second place. The reigning champion relentlessly chased Norris to the finish, but the McLaren driver defended brilliantly to claim his first win of the season.
