Saturday, March 15: Partly cloudy, 10% chance of rain
Sunday, March 16: Cloudy, high chance of rain at 95%
Weather forecast: will the Australian GP start time be postponed?
UPDATE – According to paddock rumors, there is a possibility that the Australian Grand Prix start time, currently scheduled for 5:00 AM Central European Standard Time, may be delayed. This is precisely when the heaviest rainfall of the day is expected. Discussions are underway to postpone the start by an hour, to 6:00 AM Central European Standard Time.
These are not easy days for Australia, as severe weather is affecting the northeastern part of the country. Cyclone Alfred, as it has been named by authorities and the media, is causing significant disruptions in the state of Queensland, near the capital Brisbane. The tropical cyclone has led to power outages and service interruptions and has already claimed one life over the weekend. The extreme weather conditions caused by the cyclone pose a threat to Australia just a week before Formula 1 arrives. On Sunday, March 16, the F1 circus will be in action at Melbourne’s Albert Park for the opening round of the 2025 World Championship.
With the cyclone passing over Queensland, in northeastern Australia, the city of Melbourne is expected to avoid the direct impact of “Alfred.” The Grand Prix is being held in Victoria’s capital, located in the southeastern part of the country.
