The Bahrain Grand Prix could make its way back onto the 2026 Formula 1 calendar, with Formula 1 and the FIA reportedly evaluating a new scheduling solution that would place the Sakhir event between the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and the Singapore Grand Prix.
Bahrain return could create a demanding triple-header
According to information we have learned, Formula 1 and the FIA are working on a proposal to reinstate the Bahrain Grand Prix during the window between the races in Baku and Singapore.
If the plan is approved, the championship would feature a challenging triple-header consisting of Azerbaijan, Bahrain and Singapore. While such a sequence would place significant demands on teams, drivers and travelling personnel, it is currently viewed as the most efficient logistical solution for reintroducing the race without requiring major changes to the remainder of the 2026 Formula 1 calendar.
However, Bahrain’s potential return depends entirely on one key condition: the full restoration of safe conditions across the region. Formula 1 and the FIA continue to closely monitor the geopolitical situation in the Middle East and will not make a final decision until there are absolute guarantees regarding the safety of teams, drivers, paddock staff and spectators.
There is cautious optimism within the Formula 1 paddock. Organisers remain eager to stage the Bahrain Grand Prix if circumstances allow, but they are equally determined not to compromise on safety under any circumstances.
Unless the international situation changes significantly, the period between the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and the Singapore Grand Prix currently appears to be the most realistic opportunity to bring Sakhir back onto the 2026 Formula 1 calendar, creating what would likely become one of the most demanding triple-headers of the entire season.
