Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez will start from pole position in today’s Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, after setting the fastest lap time in Saturday’s qualifying session with a lap time of 1:34 at the Jeddah Corniche circuit.
Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso will line up next to the Mexican on the front row of the grid, with the Spaniard confirming the team’s solid start to the 2023 Formula 1 championship. George Russell will start from third place for Mercedes, while Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz will begin from fourth spot. Charles Leclerc starts only from 12th place in the other SF-23 car following a ten-place grid penalty for excessive power unit elements usage, while F1 world champion Max Verstappen lines up a lowly 15th due to a driveshaft issue in Qualifying.
