
Amidst the Austrian Alps, Max Verstappen, hailed by the multitude of orange fans, wins the Austrian Grand Prix and extends his lead in the standings. Let’s take a look at the drivers’ and constructors’ standings after the 2023 Austrian F1 GP.
Max Verstappen in Spielberg gains 25 points, to which the additional piece of the fastest lap on the final lap and the 8 points from the Sprint Race are added. The Dutchman is increasingly the leader of the championship. In second place remains his teammate, Mexican Sergio Perez, who started from P15 and managed to make his way up to the podium.
Another excellent performance by Scuderia Ferrari, who, after Canada, confirm their good work on the updates. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, starting from second and third place, managed to fight for the podium until the end, securing it (in P2) with car number 16. The Spanish driver had to relinquish the Top 3 to Sergio Perez after a tough battle in the final stages of the race which was held at the 4.318-kilometre Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
With his second-place finish in the Austrian race, Charles Leclerc surpasses George Russell in the drivers’ standings. The Monegasque driver is now sixth, following closely behind his teammate Carlos Sainz.
Both the drivers’ and constructors’ standings favor Ferrari after the Austrian F1 GP. The red team remains fourth in the team rankings but significantly reduces the gap to the podium, which is occupied by Aston Martin. There is a 20-point gap to Mercedes in second place and 14 points to Aston Martin in third.
