With the next significant overhaul of Formula 1 regulations slated for 2026, many had anticipated a period of stability for the upcoming seasons. However, the FIA has different plans in mind. They are now aiming to make rule adjustments in 2025 with the aim of enhancing the quality of racing.
While the core technical regulations will remain largely unchanged, the expectation is that some seemingly minor alterations in 2025, particularly in areas that have posed challenges, will have a positive impact on the aerodynamic wake characteristics.
You might wonder, wasn’t this issue supposed to be addressed by the major rule changes in 2022? Well, while the introduction of ground-effect cars did help alleviate the problem of turbulent air, it didn’t completely resolve it.
