Peter Windsor, former manager of Scuderia Ferrari and Williams and currently a Formula 1 journalist, focused on the near future of the sport in a live broadcast on his Twitch channel. Here is an interesting excerpt of his comments regarding the Maranello team’s chances of winning the Formula One world title in 2023.

“The 2023 Ferrari is in the hands of the technical team, not in those of Charles Leclerc or Frederic Vasseur. It doesn’t matter that the new boss says that everyone has to work hard. In the end, what matters is only how the car is built. We talk of talent and intellectual capacity. That’s why Red Bull is so strong: it’s Adrian Newey’s team that creates that car,” Peter Windsor pointed out.
The Formula 1 journalist, who worked as general manager for Ferrari’s UK base in 1989, only to return to Williams as team manager in 1991, then continued: “How fast will the Ferrari car be in 2023? The logical thing to say is that Ferrari will probably be a little closer to Red Bull, which is almost at its maximum. I believe that Ferrari and Mercedes will get closer because the Milton Keynes team won’t have a lot of room for improvement, they are almost at the limit of what can be achieved with these regulations. So I think it will be a more closely contested season. Ferrari will win races, maybe six, maybe Carlos Sainz will win a couple. But I would be surprised if they win a few more, given that Mercedes will also win several. It will be an exciting season.” – Peter Windsor added.
A final comment regarding the Maranello team’s chances of winning the Formula 1 title: “A bet could be made on Charles Leclerc becoming world champion. I don’t think it would be a wrong one, in fact I would put more money on him than Lewis (Hamilton, ed) or George (Russel, ed). Even if at the moment it would be strange to think that Max won’t win again.” – the former manager of Scuderia Ferrari and Williams concluded.
