The name of Carlos Sainz has been linked to that of the Spanish beer Estrella Galicia 0.0 since 2013, when the driver took his first steps in Formula 1 by testing at the wheel of Toro Rosso and Red Bull. His promotion as racing driver in the Faenza team had strengthened the partnership between the parties, which had reached its climax with the transfer of the sponsor to McLaren precisely to closely follow the career of the Spanish driver, who moved on to join the historic team of Woking.
However, from January 1 2021, Carlos Sainz officially became a Ferrari driver and the sponsorship agreement between Estrella Galicia 0.0 and McLaren has ended, so much so that the Coruña brand is no longer on the list linked to the British team for the 2021 Formula 1 season. The Galician brewery, however, will not follow Carlos Sainz to Maranello – according to reports from the website which is an expert in motorsport sponsorships, Decalspotters – preferring to concentrate its resources on the program related to the Moto World Championship. Linked to the Marc VDS team, Estrella Galicia is in fact the main sponsor of the team in Moto2 and MotoE, as well as personal sponsor of the brothers Alex and Marc Marquez.
