Ferrari, Enrico Cardile, and the 2024 revolution
“The 2024 car will be completely different from the one we have now.” With these words spoken during the week, Frederic Vasseur had anticipated the major changes to next season’s car. The differences between the SF-23 and its successor will mainly concern the chassis and gearbox, which will be redesigned from scratch and will revolutionize Ferrari’s future car in terms of aerodynamics. And when it comes to the chassis, the point of reference in Maranello is Enrico Cardile, head of the chassis area of the Scuderia.
The engineer from Arezzo confirmed the words of the French team principal, speaking candidly about the issues with the SF-23, the unsatisfactory performance, and the corrective measures to be applied to the 2024 car during the press conference in Zandvoort dedicated to team representatives.
Enrico Cardile’s comments
“Developing this car, we realized that some choices have limited aerodynamic development. The next car won’t be an evolution of this one, like the SF-23 was of the F1-75. The chassis and rear will be different to favor aerodynamic development. It’s perfectly clear to us what we got wrong. We know what our weaknesses are. We’re not in no man’s land. Now it’s about adapting the car’s characteristics to achieve our goals.” – he pointed out.
Focus solely on 2024
“We believe that our main weakness lies in the aerodynamic characteristics of the car. All our efforts are directed at improving them. We see steps forward, but the race pace is still not satisfactory. We are too far from Red Bull,” the Italian engineer concluded. “We have more updates coming. Since the break, however, we’ve been working entirely on the next car in the wind tunnel.”
