Eddie Jordan feels Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari would be "a match made in heaven"

The situation related to Lewis Hamilton’s future with Mercedes is still in progress. In fact, the British driver has not yet signed the renewal of his contract, which will expire at the end of the 2023 Formula 1 season. Among the many rumors that can be heard in the paddock, Lewis Hamilton has also been linked to the Maranello team, should he decide to end his adventure with Mercedes. Despite the recent denials, Irish businessman, television personality and former motorsport team owner Eddie Jordan believes that Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari could represent a turning point and would be the best way to end his Formula 1 career.

“In my opinion there is only one place he could go, and that is Ferrari,” Eddie Jordan told Express Sport. “A guy with the talent that he is, and I think it might be a [match made] in heaven. I think Ferrari need shaking up and I think Lewis Hamilton needs shaking up, if they are going to continue.” – he pointed out.

“If Lewis is going to continue then I think he needs a change. For his mindset, for his drive, for an initiative, for fun. Learning Italian, dealing and eating pasta with those guys, it’s a different world. And having run a team we always saw how different Ferrari operates and I would love to see Lewis in that environment.” – F1 pundit Eddie Jordan added.

The former racing driver turned businessman and founder and owner of the Jordan Grand Prix team would therefore welcome a possible move of the British champion to Scuderia Ferrari. The Mercedes driver has not won a race for exactly 500 days, when he won the Brazilian GP in 2021 at the end of an extraordinary comeback. Since then, only George Russell has managed to win the Silver Arrows again.

Talking about the Ferrari hypothesis, Eddie Jordan says: “I think he could really shake them up. I think he could bring a new sense of direction to them, I think he would eradicate a lot of the little problems Ferrari have had.”

So therefore, I would just like to see before he fully retires, I would like to see Lewis there for a year or two to see what would happen. Just think of the column inches. It’s an amazing story. It’s unlikely to happen, but it’s my dream.” – he conceded.

The scenario described by Jordan obviously remains indeed very difficult to become reality. However, never say never in Formula 1, especially when a prestigious name like Ferrari is brought up.
